Questions about Bureau Foundations
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to. You install the application and start working.
Where are my files?
On your computer, as ordinary files in open formats. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is held on our servers.
Will it open the files I already have?
Writer opens and saves Word (.docx) and OpenDocument (.odt) files. Spreadsheet opens and saves Excel (.xlsx), OpenDocument (.ods) and .csv files. Reader opens PDF.
Does it phone home?
It checks once a day for a newer version, sending the app’s name and version and your platform, with no content and no account. You can switch that off. Mail talks to your own mail server. Nothing else leaves your computer.
Which computers does it run on?
Bureau Writer is available now for Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 11 or later. Bureau Foundations is built as native applications for macOS and Windows. Ask us about the current availability of each application.
What happens to my work if I stop using it?
Nothing. Your documents are standard files, and any other application that reads those formats can open them.
